What is a Chinese Apostille<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Chinese Apostille<\/strong> \u2014 is an official confirmation of the authenticity of the signature, the status of the signatory, and, if necessary, the authenticity of the seal or stamp on a document. This apostille does not confirm the content of the document on which it is affixed and is used for its legalisation in countries that recognise the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961.

The Chinese government officially submitted to the \"Hague Conference on Private International Law\" the documents of accession to the Convention of 5 October 1961, known as the Apostille Convention.<\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\n
For China, the Apostille Convention entered into force on 7 November 2023. In Hong Kong and Macau, it had already been in effect for quite some time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
China is the 125th country to implement the apostille procedure for documents. Although China has been a member of the Hague Convention since 1987<\/strong>, it did not ratify the Apostille Convention for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Convention simplifies the process of certifying documents for use abroad. It abolishes the standard legalisation procedure, replacing it with a single formality – the issuance of an apostille. This promotes the development of international trade by reducing time and financial costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Convention will simplify the process of doing business for foreign companies in China. Currently, this requires certified and legalised documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Convention only applies to public documents. These include: documents from government authorities, administrative documents, notarial acts, and official certificates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
